Lorus Tidal LR0021 - Matthew McConaughey - True Detective

Matthew McConaughey wears a vintage Lorus Tidal LR0021 Quartz watch in True Detective, Season One (2013).

The watch has a classic diver design with black dial with triangle and dots for hour markers, a black diver's bezel, date window and mercedes hands.

The Lorus Tidal is currently very hard to find, but there are plenty of similar diver watches on Amazon, for example the Seiko 5, or this Citizen diver, or another Citizen diver, this cheap Invicta diver or the Orient Kanno.

Rubber Wind Velocity strap

In the series the steel bracelet has been replaced with a rubber 'Wind Velocity' strap that originally came with some Citizen watch. The black rubber strap has a wind velocity conversion chart (from m/sec to knots) printed on the side.

Currently this type of strap is offered by many companies.

Get a 22mm strap on Amazon ($13) or this 18mm version (high quality, made by Bonetto Cinturini, $29).

You can also find more sizes of rubber Wind Velocity straps on eBay.

(make sure to measure the lug width of your watch fo the correct strap size, usually it's either 18mm, 20mm or 22mm)

The watch was identified after it was mentioned in an interview on Hodinkee with the prop master from True Detective and Stranger Things.

Lorus watches are not often seen in films. Pierce Brosnan once wore a Lorus watch in the movie November Man.
